Response to Intervention (RTI) tools & strategies

RedCritter Classroom reduces teacher workload while enabling 1-to-1 specialized instruction through the use of automation.

Response to Intervention (RTI) is an educational method that helps students with behavioral or learning needs through early identification and ongoing targeted support. RTI is often used at the elementary school level in order to identify and help students as soon as possible, however it is sometimes used at other grade levels. RTI is used both in special education and general education.

High quality classroom instruction

All students must receive high-quality, research-based instruction. You can use RedCritter Classroom with your own learning standards to digitize any curriculum.

Ongoing assessments and monitoring

Student progress must be monitored frequently so you can gauge the effectiveness of a curriculum. RedCritter Classroom proactively gives suggestions and prompts regarding students' instructional needs based on multiple data points taken in context over time.

Tiered instruction

RedCritter Classroom can offer different intensities of instruction with specific, research-based interventions matched to student needs.

Tier 1: Classroom-wide instruction

All students receive high-quality classroom instruction. Students identified as needing special attention either based on lagging behind in learning or behavior are moved to groups in Tier 2 for special group-based attention.

RedCritter Classroom allows to teacher to digitally create, distribute and grade assessments class-wide. It also facilitates student questions by consolidating them for easy response by the teacher.

Tier 2: Small Group instruction

Group instruction is designed to promote the lacking skills or behaviors of students grouped by similarity of needs. Students that do not show expected progress are moved to Tier 1 for personalized intervention.

RedCritter Classroom allows teacher to easily group students. Assessments and custom goals can be assigned to entire groups quickly. Teachers can also create video-based group discussions for students to collaborate.

Tier 3: Individualized instruction

Students in this tier receive one-on-one highly personalized curriculum and support designed to specifically address the individual student's needs.

Teachers can track individual student progress through RedCritter's Goals and also provide on-demand peer-to-peer student video tutoring or instant video conferencing with the teacher.

Parental involvement

Schools implementing RTI need to provide parents information about their child's progress, the instruction and interventions used, the staff who are delivering the instruction, and the academic or behavioral goals for their child. With RedCritter Classroom, parents have access to all this data and more.

Daily Achievements

Teachers can create Daily Achievements (or Dailies) for their students which prompt parental engagement at home.

Achievement Summaries
